Project future

I have finally come to the point where I can successfully fly my sim but with FSX default 737. I have buried my plans to use PMDG 737 so I'm planning to buy ProSim 737 suite in the future when my budget gives more space.

Even after ProSim I will still build all parts my self with 3D printer or other common tools. I like creating stuff my self and if I could go back in time I wouldn't bought that OpenCockpits MCP because I now know that I could have been able to create it myself a lot cheaper.

With default 737 I now have following stuff working:
* All the screens and gauges (networked) with three computers + main computer.
* External GPS unit (screen) showing the map
* EFIS (another not yet plugged in)
* Overheadpanel
* Gear lever
* Throttle
* Pedestal is under construction at the moment but it is very promising
* Yokes are working
- Pedals ain't done yet so I have to use Xbox controller to use them when needed.
- FMC's not done yet and no hurry because default 737 does not have them.

Backlighting option coming up!

Backlighting supported panels are coming soon. Options with these panels are: complete cutout for switch labels, means that you can print these without dual extrusion but that might not be nice. Better solution is using dual extrusion with transparent filament for switch labels. I'm sure that this will need very good precision 3D printer (which I don't have) Also I'm not sure do I have to lower all panels a little so text's would not be too tall, if that will block light too much.

I also added circuit breaker panel switch holes for backlightning brightness adjustment, so it's one step forward to become perfect 3D printable overhead panel.

I just released efis and mcp panels on thingiverse
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:642744

Other things: I'm very far at my own (latest version) Overhead panel build.  Next weekend I'm going to print AFT panels and install electronics for lower panels and do all soldering and stuff to make it work with computer) Hopefully I get all this done in just about 12 hours, this because I cant do this work at the place where I live due there's no space for equipment and so on.

When this is finished I can take this panel with me for a week here, where I live and then start to make code for annunciator controllers and set up switches with software called "Linda" if it works as planned.

I have moved away from the place where I build my sim for smaller apartment. I have other plans at the moment. I will continue sim construction at weekends if I got chance.

* You are able to download latest overhead, AFT and pedestal panel parts from my Thingiverse account.
* I have added some links and sources to "Sources" page, so check that out.

I wish everyone a good year = 2015

Here's some pics, as you can see there's upper overhead panel almost done. Pedestal panels need some fixing. Cant wait to get these done, after these there will be mechanisms coming up which has been under construction quite long time.

Latest version is ready and exported to stl. I think I'm going to publish these files to thingiverse without testing them myself first. So many panels to print!

I just published first beta state overhead panels at Thingiverse! http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:414940

Other stuff.

Cockpit cabin if almost ready, only thing that's not installed is speakers.

I decided to buy Opencockpits MCP but unfortunately it is version 1 but I can make it work. All other version cost waaay too much for me. Picture below:

As you can see, pedestal panels are getting shape. It's long way from ready but long way done. There's also lower overhead panel which you can compare to older post what it looks in reality.

    App production for Android

    Welcome!

    My name is Martin, I'm from Finland. I bought 3D printer in beginning of 2013 and started learning 3D modeling. Suddenly I came a cross with 737 video which looked like video from real 737 cockpit. After that video I decided that I must build one, but money was the problem. Most realistic simulators could cost from 50k to 200k+ and that is way too much for me. So I started to create my own panels and mechanism using 3D modeling software and 3D printer. It's also one goal to get this available for everyone who has interest to this kind of projects.

    Download my android apps and games to support my work. Thank you!
